Role Overview
The employer is hiring a mid-level DevOps Engineer / Release Engineer focused on software delivery, deployment automation, infrastructure reliability, and release management.
The role works with development, QA, security, infrastructure, operations, product, and business teams to deliver stable and repeatable software releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate build, test, deployment, and release processes across environments.
- Manage release schedules, versioning, deployment workflows, repositories, branching strategies, merge workflows, and release branches.
- Coordinate releases with cross-functional teams and troubleshoot pipeline, build, integration, deployment, performance, and infrastructure failures.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code, manage cloud infrastructure, and maintain containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Develop scripts with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages and implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability.
- Integrate security controls, vulnerability checks, automated testing, and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
- Support rollback, recovery, blue-green, rolling, canary, and other controlled deployment strategies.
- Maintain configuration, environment variables, secrets, deployment parameters, release notes, procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Coordinate production release windows, communicate deployment status, and verify system health after releases.
- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, post-release reviews, and ongoing automation and DevOps improvements.
Requirements
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related field is required.
- Previous experience in DevOps, release engineering, build engineering, systems engineering, cloud operations, or a similar role is required.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, release management, automation, reliability, scalability, and deployment best practices is required.
- Hands-on CI/CD pipeline experience and experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms are required.
- Strong Git and source-control knowledge, cloud-platform experience, and familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes are required.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages are required.
- Understanding of Linux and Windows servers, networking, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, load balancing, monitoring, logging, security, secrets, access control, and vulnerability management is required.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, communication, cross-functional collaboration, organizational, and release-management skills are required.
- Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation are advantageous.
- DevOps, cloud, Kubernetes, or related professional certifications are advantageous.
