P&C Manager should lead the P&C Department in the UAE, overseeing all underwriting, Operation, and risk management functions.
Ensure the proper implementation of underwriting guidelines and authority limits to maintain consistency and mitigate risk.
Establish strong controls and perform regular risk assessments and quality assurance reviews to maintain high underwriting standards and minimize potential losses.
Responsibilities
1.
Define and oversee the implementation of underwriting policies, guidelines, and risk appetite to ensure sound risk selection and profitability.
2.
Review, assess, and approve high-value and complex underwriting cases beyond the authority of the Team Leader and senior underwriters.
3.
Handle escalations and provide strategic direction on underwriting decisions to mitigate risks while maintaining business growth.
4.
Conduct portfolio analysis and risk segmentation to refine underwriting strategies and enhance profitability.
5.
Ensure efficient processing of Policies, and endorsements while adhering to SLAs and regulatory standards.
6.
Lead and mentor Team Leaders, Underwriters, Risk Engineer & Operations, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
7.
Establish KPIs and performance benchmarks, ensuring the team meets business objectives and underwriting quality standards.
8.
Oversee workforce planning, allocate resources efficiently, and optimize productivity across the department.
9.
Conduct training and professional development initiatives to enhance underwriting capabilities and industry knowledge.
10.
Ensure all underwriting activities comply with regulatory requirements, company policies, and reinsurance guidelines.
11.
Conduct regular audits, quality assurance reviews, and risk assessments to maintain underwriting discipline.
12.
Implement corrective actions based on audit findings, regulatory changes, and market developments.
13.
Foster a culture of ethical decision-making, ensuring compliance with the Arabia Code of Conduct and corporate governance.
14.
Drive business growth strategies by identifying new market opportunities and expanding the P&C insurance portfolio.
15.
Analyze market trends, rating developments, competitor strategies, and emerging risks to shape the company's value proposition.
16.
Collaborate with brokers, agents, and distribution partners to strengthen relationships and enhance business generation.
17.
Develop and implement pricing strategies in coordination with actuarial and reinsurance teams to maintain competitiveness.
18.
Provide regular reports and insights on portfolio performance, underwriting trends, and market developments to senior management.
19.
Represent the underwriting department in executive meetings, strategy discussions, and external stakeholder engagements.
20.
Serve as the key liaison with reinsurers, regulatory bodies, and senior executives, ensuring transparency and alignment in decision-making.
21.
Lead strategic projects and initiatives to optimize underwriting operations and improve business performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Insurance Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Pursuing a formal underwriting certification (e.g., ACII, CPCU, or equivalent) is desired.
- Advanced certifications in risk management, reinsurance, or actuarial sciences are an advantage
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
