Role Overview

  • P&C Underwriter should Assess and underwrite Property & Casualty (P&C) risks in line with underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
  • Analyze risk exposures, evaluate insurance applications, and determine appropriate terms, conditions, and pricing.
  • Ensure adherence to underwriting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and underwrite Property & Casualty risks in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
  • Evaluate insurance applications by analyzing risk exposures, coverage requirements, and policy terms.
  • Determine appropriate pricing, conditions, and terms to maintain profitability and competitiveness.
  • Handle moderately complex underwriting cases, referring higher authority cases to the Team Leader or Senior Underwriters.
  • Ensure the timely processing of quotations, renewals, and endorsements, adhering to SLAs and service standards.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions align with regulatory requirements and company compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation for all underwriting assessments and approvals.
  • Participate in internal audits and quality checks to support risk control measures.
  • Follow the Code of Conduct and ensure ethical underwriting practices at all times.
  • Work closely with brokers, agents, and distribution channels to understand client needs and develop customized solutions.
  • Support the team in identifying new business opportunities while maintaining a balanced portfolio.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing developments, and competitor activities to enhance underwriting strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Insurance Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Pursuing a formal underwriting certification (e.g., Cert CII, or equivalent) is desired.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the insurance industry, specifically within the Underwriting (UW) department.
