About the Role

- Accountability for end to end engineering lifecycle, ensuring technical deliverables meet QCT targets
- Integrating engineering activities with Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning
- Heading up multidisciplinary design teams (internal and external) to drive technical excellence
- Managing Design Freeze process and technical scope boundaries among project partners
- Overseeing resolution of complex technical interfaces between customer, partners, and contractors
- Maintaining control over engineering budget and workload, identifying and mitigating technical risks
- Ensuring all engineering deliverables adhere to contractual obligations, client specs, and regulatory standards
- Acting as primary technical contact for Customer and local utility providers
- Securing timely design approvals through management of technical queries and customer comment cycles
- Ensuring Safety by Design principles and EHS requirements are embedded in engineering process
- Monitoring engineering performance through KPIs and driving continuous improvement
- Steering final documentation process (As Builts, O&M Manuals) and contributing to Lessons Learned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience heading up primary design activities within EPC environments in Transmission and Distribution, Power Generation, or Energy sector
- Systematic understanding of international standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, CIGRE) and regional regulations including SEC standards (TMSS, TESP, TCP)
- Experience engaging with Saudi utility providers and clients
- Practical experience with High Voltage (HV) GIS/AIS substations from 132kV up to 400kV and above
- Successful track record in technical project management within multidisciplinary and international team environments
- Willingness to travel globally and work in various locations
- Sound communication and negotiation skills
- Professional fluency in English
- Professional fluency in Arabic (desired)
- Ability to live and work in Riyadh

Job Description Summary
- Head up and oversee all engineering activities within the project, ensuring adherence to Quality, Cost, and Time (QCT) delivery criteria.
- Manage design activities, project engineering budget, and design change process.
- Coordinate all technical tasks to ensure seamless technical integration for Grid Solutions projects.
Key Responsibilities Engineering Management & Project Integration
- Accountability for the end to end engineering lifecycle, ensuring all technical deliverables meet project QCT targets.
- Integrating engineering activities with Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning to ensure seamless project flow.
- Heading up multidisciplinary design teams (internal and external) to drive technical excellence and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Technical Governance & Interface Management
- Managing the Design Freeze process and technical scope boundaries among all project partners.
- Overseeing the resolution of complex technical interfaces between customer, partners, and third party contractors.
- Maintaining sound control over the engineering budget and workload, identifying and mitigating technical risks.
Key Responsibilities Client Management & Technical Compliance
- Ensuring all engineering deliverables adhere to contractual obligations, client technical specifications, and regulatory standards (SEC, IEC, IEEE).
- Acting as the primary technical contact for the Customer and local utility providers, heading up technical negotiations.
- Securing timely design approvals through systematic management of technical queries and customer comment cycles.
Key Responsibilities Quality, Safety & Performance Excellence
- Ensuring Safety by Design principles and EHS requirements are embedded in every stage of the engineering process.
- Monitoring engineering performance through key metrics (KPIs) and driving continuous improvement in design efficiency and quality.
- Steering the final documentation process (As Builts, O&M Manuals) and contributing to project Lessons Learned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of established experience heading up primary design activities within EPC environments in Transmission and Distribution, Power Generation, or Energy sector.
- Systematic understanding of international standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, CIGRE) and regional regulations including SEC standards (TMSS, TESP, TCP).

- Practical experience with High Voltage (HV) GIS/AIS substations ranging from 132kV up to 400kV and above.

- Professional fluency in English for effective communication with international stakeholders and local clients.
Desired Characteristics
- Extensive experience in High Voltage Substation Primary Design, covering general layouts, civil guide design, earthing and lightning protection systems, and GIS/MV/Control building arrangements.
- Understanding of project execution risks and financial processes.
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and build effective teams.
- Conducting detailed design reviews for substation steel structures, electrical safety clearances, and cable routing.
- Demonstrated understanding of High Voltage and Medium Voltage equipment design review, supplemented by insights from FATs and site visits.

- Systematic approach to identifying and resolving complex technical challenges.
- Experience in fostering a collaborative team environment and building professional relationships.
