Project Engineer Specialist - Transmission Engineering (Multiple Disciplines) 5 Number of positions: Edmonds A02 Job Location: Permanent Employment type: Lower Mainland Region: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Hours of work: Hybrid Flexible Work Role: $ 131,100.00 - 165,800.00 Annual salary: This position is for a Project Engineer Specialist within the Transmission Project Engineering Division. BC Hydro is expanding and upgrading our power system to support BC’s growing demand for clean energy. In this role, you’ll lead multidisciplinary teams working on exciting and impactful projects across BC Hydro’s transmission system. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys working on a wide variety of projects, each with its own unique scope, assets, stakeholders, risks and technical aspects. While the work is based out of Burnaby, you’ll get to travel to BC Hydro’s facilities located throughout British Columbia and may occasionally travel to other parts of North America and internationally. Multiple positions are available within the various teams in the Transmission Project Engineering Division. Position Highlights What you'll do * You'll plan and manage the engineering component (Scope, Schedule, and Cost) of large capital projects which typically have a considerable profile, technical complexity, and risk. Projects may include work being designed entirely within BC Hydro, entirely outside of BC Hydro, or a combination thereof. Typical projects include new or upgrades to existing transmission substations and lines and associated protection, controls, and communication systems. * You'll establish design and review plans, strategies, schedules, and resource requirements for the engineering work on your projects, and work with functional managers to establish project teams. You'll coordinate and oversee the development of reports, technical specifications and drawings and may manage engineering consultant's contracts. You work with other teams within and outside of BC Hydro to ensure technical support is provided during manufacturing, construction, and commissioning, and that technical issues are resolved. * You may perform the Owner's Engineer Lead role on projects where some or all engineering work is done by a third party such as an outside consultant or equipment vendor. As an Owner's Engineer Lead, you will coordinate and lead the internal review and acceptance of work designed by a third party. * Understanding the business in which we operate is key for this role. As such, you'll maintain collaborative relationships across the organization and use your understanding of business requirements and processes to lead the engineering work. You will make or review recommendations on complex project matters. This may include presenting to senior management and the executive. * You will coach members of your project teams to help resolve issues. You will mentor and coach others, either within the department or in other groups. What you bring * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; other disciplines may be considered in conjunction with relevant experience on complex large infrastructure projects. * Eligibility for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC). * A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, preferably including design of transmission stations/lines projects.

Engineering experience through the total project life cycle, from conceptual design through to testing and commissioning is considered an asset.
