Role Overview
The Project Engineer acts as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity.
The role supports ABB's Process Automation business in the Energy Industries division in Bangalore, India.
The work model is hybrid.
Engineering Responsibilities
- Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Perform testing, installation, commissioning, and project documentation.
- Prepare engineering proposals and presentations, including bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.
- Create work plans and cost estimates and review scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverable quality.
- Complete Power Management System risk and opportunity assessments and report contract, quality, program, and cost issues.
Technical and Project Coordination
- Support contract change management covering scope, cost, time, and risk impacts.
- Coordinate technical requirements with Supply Chain and evaluate supplier proposals.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with safety regulations, contractual requirements, processes, and tools.
- Assign tasks to and coordinate entry-level engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
Required Experience
- 4+ years of relevant experience in engineering and commissioning of Power Management Systems.
- Experience with PMS monitoring, control, load shedding, load sharing, and synchronization.
- Hands-on experience designing substation network architecture and control philosophies for process or power plants.
- Hands-on experience configuring controllers, protocol gateways, data concentrators, and manufacturer IEDs.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of IEC 61850, OPC, Modbus, DNP3, IEC 101/104, TCP/IP, Profinet, Fieldbus, SPA, OT/IT convergence, and cybersecurity.
- Experience creating IEC, ICD, CID, and SCD files and using application engineering tools for a DCS.
Education and Travel
- A four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- The role requires willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 70% and a valid international passport.
