Role overview

The Project Engineer acts as a design authority for a low-to-medium-complexity engineering discipline within ABB's Process Automation business.

The role is based in Bangalore, India and uses a hybrid work model.

The position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Complete engineering assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects using standard techniques and procedures.
  • Handle testing, installation, commissioning, and project documentation within the assigned scope.
  • Prepare proposals and presentations, including bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.
  • Support contract change management by assessing scope, cost, schedule, and risk impacts.
  • Create work plans and cost estimates and review scope, budget, schedule, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Assess Power Management System risks and opportunities and implement resulting actions.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and supplied equipment or services for technical fit.
  • Coordinate work with entry-level engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in engineering and commissioning of Power Management Systems.
  • Experience with primary equipment monitoring and control, load shedding, load sharing, and synchronization.
  • Hands-on experience designing substation network architecture and control philosophies for process or power plants.
  • Working knowledge of utility communication protocols and DCS application engineering tools.
  • Experience configuring controllers, protocol gateways, data concentrators, and manufacturer IEDs.
  • Experience creating IEC, ICD, CID, and SCD files on IEC 61850 systems.
  • Bachelor's degree of four years or equivalent experience.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 70% and hold a valid international passport.
