Project Controls Engineer - Freelance (m/f/d)

Your mission

Project planning and scheduling

• Develop project plans, Work Breakdown Structures, activity lists, schedules, milestones, and resource plans.
• Create and maintain schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Identify critical paths, dependencies, bottlenecks, and schedule risks, and coordinate mitigation measures.
• Monitor progress against schedules and KPIs and provide accurate forecasts.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Prepare progress reports, look-ahead schedules, dashboards, risk registers, and project controls records.
• Support Extension of Time claims, including Impacted as Planned and Time Impact Analysis.

Cost and commercial control

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, Bills of Quantities, scope breakdowns, and structured work packages.
• Support tendering and procurement through tender packages and RFQs.
• Review supplier and subcontractor quotations and support commercial evaluation.
• Track project costs and commitments against budgets and provide cost reports and forecasts.
• Monitor the relationship between progress, programme, resources, and cost performance.
• Support value engineering and assess variations, change orders, claims, and commercial adjustments.
• Maintain records supporting cost, schedule, and contractual reporting.

Project controls and collaboration

• Align programme, progress, resources, cost, and commercial performance with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Communicate project status, risks, delays, cost implications, and forecasts to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Provide data and analysis for project reviews and decision-making.
• Use performance analysis and lessons learned to improve project controls and delivery processes.

Your profile

• Around five years of relevant experience in project controls, planning engineering, cost control, quantity surveying, or a similar role.
• Experience in construction, interior fit-out, AVL, exhibition construction, permanent installations, MEP, infrastructure, media technology, system integration, or similar environments.
• UAE and/or KSA project experience and regional market knowledge are beneficial.
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project is required.
• Knowledge of project costing, budgeting, Bills of Quantities, tendering, procurement, variations, and commercial management is required.
• Experience combining planning and scheduling with cost and commercial control is required.
• Strong knowledge of progress measurement, forecasting, critical path analysis, and schedule risk management is required.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills are required.
• Strong numerical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills are required.
• Ability to work independently in a freelance assignment and adapt to fast-paced projects is required.
• PMP, Certified Planning Engineer, or another relevant certification is advantageous.

Assignment conditions

• The assignment is based on a project in Riyadh.
• Candidates must have the documentation, permits, and/or visas required to legally work in Saudi Arabia for the assignment duration.
