The Project Controller manages the financial and commercial performance of construction projects.
The role covers budgets, cost tracking, forecasts, reporting, project progress, cash flow, profitability, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project budgets, cost plans, and control accounts.
- Monitor costs, commitments, purchase orders, subcontractor costs, invoices, accruals, and payments.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts, dashboards, and variance analysis.
- Monitor cash flow, revenue, costs, profitability, schedules, risks, and opportunities.
- Coordinate with project, commercial, procurement, finance, contracts, and site teams.
- Support change orders, variations, claims, earned value analysis, project reviews, and close-out.
- Maintain accurate financial data and ensure reporting and project-control procedures are followed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Typically 5+ years of experience in project controls, cost control, or commercial management within construction.
- Professional certification such as PMP, AACE, RICS, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent is advantageous.
- Experience with large-scale construction, infrastructure, MEP, or building projects is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong construction cost-control and project financial-management knowledge.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and financial analysis.
- Experience with ERP or project-control systems such as SAP, Oracle, Primavera Unifier, or similar.
- Knowledge of Primavera P6 or other project scheduling software.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, cost reporting, contracts, variations, claims, and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with earned value management and project performance indicators is advantageous.
Competencies and Performance
Strong analytical, problem-solving, numerical, planning, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to identify cost risks and potential overruns, meet reporting deadlines, and work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
Performance is measured through reporting accuracy, budget and forecast accuracy, variance management, cash-flow forecasting, risk reporting, compliance, and cost efficiency.
Work Location
- The role is based at a construction project or site and/or head office, depending on project requirements.
- Regular visits to construction sites and coordination with project teams may be required.
Compensation
- Pay is AED 25,000–AED 27,000 per month.
