Project Accountant

Position Summary

Project Costing and Financial Management

• Prepare and maintain detailed project costing sheets with accurate cost inputs.
• Validate budgets, resource estimates, subcontracting costs, procurement costs, and profitability before project commencement.
• Monitor actual costs against approved budgets and investigate variances, cost overruns, and project commitments.
• Support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, Estimate-at-Completion, and Cost-to-Complete analyses.

SAP Controls and Revenue Recognition

• Create and manage project structures, master data, milestones, and financial controls in SAP Project Systems or an equivalent ERP.
• Monitor milestone completion and documentation for billing, revenue recognition, and project tracking.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS 15 and reconcile recognized revenue, invoiced amounts, project progress, WIP, accrued revenue, and deferred revenue.
• Support internal and external audits with project financial documentation and analysis.

Billing and Working Capital

• Prepare invoices based on contractual terms, project milestones, and approved deliverables.
• Monitor billing schedules, invoice status, unbilled revenue, aging balances, and billing performance.
• Coordinate with project teams and customers to resolve billing issues and convert unbilled revenue into invoices.
• Monitor project cash flow, working capital requirements, receivables, and collection performance.

Resource Analysis and Reporting

• Analyze planned versus actual manpower costs, utilization, productivity, timesheets, project hours, and resource consumption.
• Prepare monthly profitability, performance, dashboard, KPI, and variance reports.
• Identify scope creep, margin erosion, resource inefficiencies, and project financial risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Present project financial performance reports to management and business unit leaders.

Commercial and Stakeholder Support

• Review customer contracts, payment terms, billing schedules, retention clauses, warranties, penalties, and commercial risks.
• Support change order management and assess financial impacts on project profitability.
• Collaborate with project managers, business unit heads, sales, procurement, delivery, finance teams, customers, and vendors.
• Provide financial guidance and participate in project review meetings and commercial discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 3–7 years of experience in Project Accounting, Project Finance, Project Control, or Financial Analysis.
• Prior experience in a systems integrator, IT services, technology solutions provider, ERP implementation partner, managed services provider, or similar project-based environment.
• CPA, CMA, ACCA, CIMA, CA, or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred but not required.

Technical Skills

• Project accounting, cost accounting, IFRS 15 revenue recognition, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Profitability analysis, variance analysis, cash flow management, and WIP management.
• SAP Project Systems, SAP S/4HANA, advanced Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and project management software such as MS Project, Primavera, Jira, or Monday.com.
