Principal Engineer - Embedded

Job purpose

Key responsibilities

• Lead system-level software development efforts and coordinate with hardware teams, manufacturing, product owners, and other stakeholders.
• Design, develop, implement, validate, and document subsystem and system-level embedded firmware and software for secure communication devices.
• Develop firmware using Verilog and software using Rust and C.
• Analyze and debug embedded systems to ensure stability, reliability, and performance.
• Implement test cases and test automation for developed embedded devices.
• Plan, execute, and deliver engineering projects in an agile manner.
• Ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
• Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for technical improvement and automation.

Education and experience

• At least 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Technical skills

• Hands-on software or firmware development experience with at least two of Rust, FPGA using Verilog, or C for Linux kernels, boot loaders, or FreeRTOS.
• Proven experience with embedded software architectures, design patterns, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Linux-based systems using Yocto.
• Domain knowledge in multiple areas including IP-based communications over Ethernet networks, remote management of network infrastructure, cryptography, or audio processing.
• Experience with continuous integration practices.
• Experience with test automation using Robot Framework is a plus.
• Knowledge of information security and communications security, including cryptography.
• Excellent working proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Git.
• Understanding of agile development principles and experience in self-organizing cross-functional teams.

Compensation

• The base salary is stated as around EUR 8,000 based on the candidate’s experience, without an explicit pay period.
