Principal Engineer - Electrical 2nd Shift

476 Waterfront Engineering at Quonset Point is seeking highly motivated Principal level candidates to provide technical leadership for second shift structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical construction activities for VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class.

The department’s main goal is to provide timely, high quality technical leadership for all manufacturing activities at the Quonset Point facility.

D476 is responsible for the resolution of design issues, troubleshooting construction problems, technical support for manufacturing operations, verification and certification of as-built dimensions and configurations, and implementation of process improvements.

Individuals selected for this position will be providing deck plate engineering in the form of Change Requests, Change Notices, UNSATs, Engineering Reports, and other engineering documents to support the construction schedule and module ship out.

In addition, engineers in D476 are exposed to various aspects of submarine deck plate construction which provide opportunities for continuous growth, leadership, and advancement as an engineer.

Hands-on engineering is permitted at Quonset Point.

• BS or higher in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering
• 15+ years of post-graduate engineering experience
• Previous experience with the design, development, construction, and/or operation of submarine systems, components, or structures
• Experience with submarine mechanical, structural, electrical, and piping systems, components or design processes/products
• Experience with mechanical/structural/piping design, evaluation, and/or construction
• Experience with trouble-shooting and technical problem solving
• Experience with task or project management
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance
