Role overview

The Principal Business Analyst is one of two senior practitioners aligned to the Taylor & Francis Business Architecture function.

The role leads the largest and most complex cross-domain analysis in its domain group.

The role raises BA standards through expertise, peer review, coaching, and quality oversight rather than line management.

Complex cross-domain analysis

  • Scope major analysis initiatives by defining problems, scope, dependencies, approach, and BA capacity.
  • Coordinate Domain Business Analysts through design and implementation.
  • Maintain requirements coherence across domain boundaries.
  • Lead requirements elicitation, feasibility analysis, options analysis, and senior-stakeholder recommendations.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and contribute to cross-domain UAT planning.
  • Maintain analytical quality and act as the senior escalation point for ambiguous analysis problems.

Business architecture

  • Serve as the primary BA contact for the Business Architect within the domain group.
  • Ensure initiative work feeds current processes, organisational structures, systems, and data flows into the business architecture.
  • Lead documentation of capability-level processes, structures, systems, and data flows.
  • Support Business Decision Records and identify opportunities to simplify or unify processes.
  • Validate alignment with the target architecture and domain model.

BA practice leadership

  • Define and maintain BA methodology, standards, templates, artefacts, and shared vocabulary.
  • Define the BA competency framework and progression model.
  • Run the BA community of practice and address practice-wide skill gaps.
  • Define requirements governance and UAT standards.
  • Review BA outputs and coach Domain Business Analysts without direct line-management authority.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Substantial business analysis experience in complex, multi-domain organisations.
  • Experience leading complex analysis initiatives and coordinating multiple Business Analysts.
  • Experience setting BA standards and methodology in distributed delivery environments.
  • Experience working with enterprise or business architects.
  • Strong senior stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Coaching experience with junior or mid-career Business Analysts.
  • Experience working across locations and time zones.

Preferred qualifications

  • Business analysis certification such as BCS/ISEB or IIBA CBAP is desirable but not essential.
  • Publishing, content, or platform business experience is advantageous.

Workplace

  • The role uses a balanced working model with a minimum expectation of three in-person days per week.
  • Candidates should live within commuting distance of the Bengaluru office.
  • Remote or home working is available when colleagues are not working together in an office or other workplace.

Benefits

  • Benefits include salary and bonus, annual leave, volunteering days, birthday leave, pension contributions, insurance coverage, social events, training, and remote-working equipment.
