Postdoctoral Fellow

We seek a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Associate to join our team in studying Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) dynamics within mangrove ecosystems.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to explore the interactions between soil biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, and carbon cycling in coastal environments.

The successful candidate will be central to advancing our understanding of carbon sequestration in these key ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct fieldwork in mangrove ecosystems, including sediment sampling and data collection.

Perform a variety of laboratory analyses on sediment samples.

Collaborate with team members to design and execute microbial processes and SOC dynamics experiments.

Analyse and interpret complex data using advanced statistical tools and lead peer-reviewed publications.

Supervise and provide training to undergraduate and graduate students in field and laboratory techniques, data analysis, and project management.

Maintain detailed records of research progress and ensure proper data management following project requirements.

Present research findings at scientific conferences and contribute to report writing for funding agencies.

PhD (or nearing completion) in Soil Science, Biogeochemistry, Microbial Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Strong knowledge of soil carbon dynamics, microbial ecology, and biogeochemical processes in soil environments.

Experience in conducting fieldwork under challenging conditions and familiarity with mangrove ecosystems or coastal environments is highly desirable.

Proficiency in various laboratory techniques, including carbon and nitrogen analyses, and isotope tracing.

Strong computational and data analysis skills (e.g., R, Python, or similar).

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

Experience working in mangrove or coastal ecosystems, or similar environments.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple aspects of research projects simultaneously.

Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Demonstrated experience in grant writing and project management is an asset.
