Role Overview
Maintain hotel equipment and buildings to a high standard under the guidance of the Engineering Supervisor or designate.
Support hotel facilities so arriving guests experience well-maintained and clean surroundings.
Duties and Functions
- Maintain plant, water, pump, boiler, and fire-system equipment, including testing and maintenance.
- Monitor water hygiene and record results.
- Maintain health and safety legislation records.
- Source and contract suppliers as required.
- Organize work schedules, methods, and risk assessments for plant-related areas.
- Remain on call for plant emergencies.
- Carry out preventive planned maintenance checks.
- Perform plumbing, piping, water-system, pool-equipment, fire-pump, boiler-management, and servicing work.
- Carry out other maintenance duties as required.
- Repair or replace bathroom and toilet fixtures in guest rooms, back-of-house areas, and public areas.
- Participate in the hotel's energy-conservation program.
- Attend required on-job training according to departmental standards and procedures.
Supervision and Coordination
- Supervise the issue and safe return of Engineering department tools.
- Ensure contractor safety inductions are completed and records of work are maintained.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers.
- Raise, accept, and monitor purchase orders.
- Accept deliveries in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Supervise maintenance staff and external contractors carrying out hotel maintenance work.
- Assist the fire team during emergencies.
- Monitor hotel utility readings.
Requirements
- Ability to carry out plumbing, piping, water-system, pool-equipment, fire-pump, and boiler maintenance and servicing.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance checks and respond to plant emergencies while on call.
- Ability to maintain health, safety, water-hygiene, and maintenance records.
- Ability to coordinate contractors and suppliers working on hotel maintenance activities.
