Role Summary

The Planning Systems and Solutions Manager provides strategic and technical leadership for budgeting and financial planning systems.

The role ensures planning systems are reliable, user-friendly, integrated, and aligned with institutional data and governance standards.

The position reports to the Senior Director, Budget and Financial Planning and works with finance, IT, business intelligence, and operational teams.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, governance, enhancement, and roadmap for Adaptive Planning, Calumo, and related applications.
  • Oversee system configurations, models, templates, forecasting frameworks, integrations, data structures, and account mappings.
  • Manage system security, access protocols, data governance, scenario modeling, forecasting, and multi-year planning.
  • Advise decentralized finance teams and lead process improvement, user support, training, and documentation.
  • Direct development of financial reports, scenario analyses, and multi-year forecasts for executive decision-making.
  • Manage staff directly or indirectly and guide planning staff, power users, and external vendors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Completion of the CPA accounting program, including CA, CGA, or CMA.
  • At least eight years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in business, finance, information systems, or a related field is critical to the role.
  • Experience with Adaptive Planning, Workday, or similar enterprise planning tools is required.
  • Experience in financial planning systems administration within complex public-sector or higher-education environments is highly important.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, consolidation, reporting, system integration, data governance, and analytics platforms is critical.

Capabilities

  • Strong communication and user-support skills are needed to explain complex functionality and data structures clearly.
  • The role requires analytical thinking, system troubleshooting, data validation, workflow optimization, and technical execution.
  • The role requires collaboration across finance, IT, data, faculties, administrative units, and external partners.

Compensation

  • The compensation range is CAD 9,599.75 to CAD 14,385.50 monthly.
