Pharmacy Tech-PRN

The pharmacy technician position is one that assists the pharmacist under his direct supervision to provide patient care in the most accurate and efficient way possible.

A pharmacy technician is required to be licensed by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy and maintain yearly continuing education.

Interpreting medication orders from physician or physician assistant.

Data entry of prescription orders.

Printing and filling of those orders including cart fill for current census.

Maintaining daily physician auto stops and making the appropriate physician aware.

Printing daily reconciliation sheets and maintaining appropriate billing and resupply quantities.

Re-stocking medication room both upstairs and emergency department.

Daily cleaning of aseptic isolator.

Monitoring inventory levels of current stock and ordering when necessary.

Delivery of medications ordered throughout the day from both nursing services and emergency department.

Monitoring and processing of outdated medications.
