- Review, evaluate, and process medication orders for appropriateness of therapy, dose, frequency, route, and potential interactions
- Prepare, fill, and compound sterile and non sterile medications, including anti neoplastic agents
- Maintain control and security of all medications, including controlled substances, and maintain dispensing records
- Pre package tablets, capsules, and oral liquid medications using repackaging machines/robotic equipment
- Order and maintain proper inventory of drugs and supplies, monitor expiration dates, and prepare expired medications for disposal
- Distribute medications to nursing units when required
- Participate in performance/quality improvement projects

Summary
- Prepares/fills, compounds of sterile and non sterile medications including anti neoplastic agents, in accordance with accepted standards and established pharmacy policies and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Reviews, evaluates, processes medication orders for demographic data, appropriateness of therapy, dose, frequency, route, dosage form, interactions, allergies, related laboratory values, and possible drug interactions.
- Restocks, operates, and troubleshoots pharmacy robotic equipment as applicable.
- Performs professional work in the preparation, filling, compounding, and double checking of sterile and non sterile medications.
- Maintains control and security of all medications including controlled, narcotic substances and supplies.
- Pre packages tablets, capsules, and oral liquid medications utilizing available repackaging machines/robotic equipment.
- Checks, and monitors medication related activities/performance of new pharmacist III or pharmacy assistant, residents, trainees/students.
- Orders/Maintains proper and sufficient inventory of drugs and supplies with regular monitoring of medication expiration dates.
- Maintains a clean working environment including hoods and countertops.
- Distributes medications to nursing units when required.
- Performs nursing unit/clinic inspection, and outdated pharmacy stocks/supplies on a monthly basis.
- Participates/assists in conducting performance/quality improvement projects.
- Follows all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.
Education
- Pharm.D. / Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is required.
