Job purpose
Negotiate and procure medicines.
Job responsibilities
- Internalize and follow standard operating procedures.
- Select good-quality products and obtain quotations from different companies.
- Compare supplier rates against doctor requirements and procure medicines.
- Negotiate schemes with suppliers or manufacturers and approve purchase orders.
- Prepare staff shift rotas and recruit new pharmacists.
- Train new staff, supervise current staff, and train students undertaking internships.
- Lead the pharmacy committee and attend medical representative meetings about new molecules and brands.
- Audit medicines at nursing stations for expiry and storage conditions.
- Deliver medication safety training to concerned staff.
- Assist assistant pharmacists with routine work when required.
- Perform second checks on gate passes and quarterly physical medicine stock counts.
- Take ward rounds to check JCIA compliance.
Candidate requirements
- Good knowledge of medicines and medicine procurement.
