Learning and Teaching
- Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
- Establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect.
- Set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds.
- Demonstrate consistently positive attitudes, values and behaviour.
- Support school competitions (e.g. QPPSSA, House events, sports teams).
- Timetable includes Secondary teaching periods alongside Primary.
- Be accountable for pupils’ attainment, progress and outcomes.
- Guide pupils to reflect on progress.
- Demonstrate knowledge of how pupils learn.
- Encourage pupils to take a responsible attitude to their work.
Subject Knowledge and Lesson Planning
- Have secure knowledge of relevant subject and curriculum areas.
- Demonstrate critical understanding of developments in the subject.
- Plan and teach well structured lessons.
- Promote a love of learning and intellectual curiosity.
- Set homework and plan out of class activities.
- Reflect systematically on effectiveness of lessons.
- Contribute to design and provision of engaging curriculum.
- Contribute to development of schemes of work and department resources.
Adapting Teaching and Assessment
- Know when and how to differentiate appropriately.
- Understand factors that inhibit learning and how to overcome them.
- Be aware of physical, social and intellectual development of children.
- Understand needs of all pupils including SEN, high ability, EAL, disabilities.
- Make accurate and productive use of assessment.
- Use formative and summative assessment to secure progress.
- Use relevant data to monitor progress and set targets.
- Give pupils regular feedback through oral and accurate marking.
Behavior Management and Wider Responsibilities
- Have clear rules and routines for behaviour.
- Have high expectations of behaviour and establish discipline framework.
- Manage classes effectively using appropriate approaches.
- Maintain good relationships with pupils.
- Make positive contribution to wider life and ethos of school.
- Develop effective professional relationships with colleagues.
- Deploy support staff effectively.
- Take responsibility for improving teaching through professional development.
- Contribute fully to extra curricular program.
- Communicate effectively with parents.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in teaching from an accredited institution.
- Required teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE.
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of school.
- Child Care and Protection.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience.
- English language is mandatory.
