Job Description

Operations Supervisor role in an Airbus A320 manufacturing station on the second shift.

The role provides technical leadership and oversees coordinated manufacturing activities, tools, jigs, and station processes.

Working Environment

  • The role is based on the manufacturing shop floor at Airbus’s Mobile, Alabama facility.
  • The facility produces A320 Family aircraft and operates multiple commercial-aircraft production lines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage station employees, including selection, performance management, development, and recognition.
  • Direct production activities, monitor aircraft progress, and coordinate station work.
  • Ensure safety, quality, cost, schedule, documentation, and customer-expectation compliance.
  • Act as deputy for the Business Unit Leader and escalation point during second and off shifts.
  • Coordinate materials, manpower forecasts, resource allocation, and cross-functional workflow.
  • Report progress and operational issues to management and lead problem-solving initiatives.

Continuous Improvement and Training

  • Support AOS improvement activities, performance-management processes, quality gates, and action plans.
  • Mentor lead technicians and provide workforce development plans and training input.
  • Manage employee corrective actions and support career progression.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least four years of aviation or equivalent manufacturing experience is required.
  • Two to five years of aviation leadership experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of aviation manufacturing quality and logistics rules is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Systems

  • Knowledge of quality management systems, production management systems, and industry safety practices is required.
  • Effective English communication, planning, organization, flexibility, initiative, and complex-information handling are required.
  • Microsoft Office is required; SAP, MES, and HMS are preferred.
  • Domestic and overseas travel may be required, including on short notice.

Physical Requirements

  • The role requires extended periods of sitting and standing, walking through production areas, and hearing safety alerts.
  • The role may require carrying or lifting items up to 30 pounds and occasional travel on uneven surfaces.
