POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager at The Gables is a hands-on hospitality leader responsible for creating exceptional food and beverage experiences while supporting the overall operation of the inn. As one of the property’s key leaders, this role oversees all aspects of Alcove and F&B programming while actively contributing to the guest experience throughout the property.

This position blends operational leadership with genuine hospitality — leading service, developing thoughtful programming, managing financial performance, and creating memorable guest interactions. The ideal candidate is both a host and an operator who enjoys building relationships, developing teams, and bringing creative ideas to life.

As a boutique inn, every team member plays an important role in the guest experience. This position requires flexibility, ownership, and a willingness to step into various areas of the operation — whether assisting a guest, supporting another department, or helping solve an unexpected operational need.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Food & Beverage Leadership

Lead daily food and beverage operations as a hands-on working manager, adapting between supervisory leadership and line-level service responsibilities based on operational needs while ensuring a warm, welcoming, and elevated guest experience.

Maintain a thorough knowledge of all menus, inn amenities, local attractions, and community experiences.

Support and execute special events, community gatherings, and curated programming that align with The Gables’ brand.

Lead a thoughtful F&B program, coffee, bar, and food, in collaboration with the Innkeeper and VP of Food & Beverage.

Develop seasonal offerings, maintain recipes/specifications, and ensure proper team training

Guest Experience & Property Operations

Serve as a visible leader and hospitality ambassador throughout the property.

Build relationships with guests and proactively address needs, questions, and concerns.

Support overall inn operations, sales efforts, guest requests, service recovery, and physical property needs.

Embrace a “whatever is needed” mindset to ensure guests receive a seamless and memorable experience.

Financial & Operational Management

Manage ordering and inventory for food, coffee, beer, wine, spirits, and beverage-related products while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.

Establish pars, control costs, minimize waste, and maintain product quality.

Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and identifying opportunities to maximize revenue and profitability.

Monitor sales trends, guest preferences, labor needs, and operational performance.

Team Leadership & Culture

Recruit, train, coach, and mentor team members to deliver exceptional hospitality.

Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and genuine care for guests and team members.

Provide ongoing coaching to ensure service standards are consistently met.

Create a positive, collaborative team culture aligned with The Gables’ values.

Manage F&B scheduling, communication, and daily operational needs.

Foster a “one team” mentality across all departments of the inn.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all NC Department of Health food safety regulations and NC ABC requirements.

Maintain responsible alcohol service practices, including proper ID verification and monitoring guest consumption.

Uphold cleanliness, safety, sanitation, and operational standards throughout the property.

Craft cocktail, wine, coffee, and beverage experience strongly preferred.

Strong guest service mindset with the ability to create memorable experiences.

Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Comfortable working independently in a dynamic boutique hospitality environment.

Creative, collaborative, detail-oriented, and passionate about hospitality.

Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
