Role Overview
The Operations Manager will manage land-freight transportation operations, teams, suppliers, costs, compliance, and operational performance.
The role covers trucks, trailers, cross-border transportation, and normal, out-of-gauge, sensitive, and special cargo.
Operations and Transport
- Handle cargo requirements while identifying permits, operational challenges, and cost-effective routes.
- Source reliable trucks, drivers, transport companies, and brokers at competitive rates.
- Build long-term relationships with transport providers and maintain a strong driver pool for continuous truck availability.
- Monitor the operations team, allocate tasks, and coordinate with the Sales Team.
- Establish SOPs, delegate tasks, prioritise urgent jobs, and ensure smooth daily operations.
Team and Supplier Management
- Supervise and develop operations staff, set KPIs, conduct performance evaluations, and promote accountability.
- Manage supplier relationships and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Manage transporters, shipping lines, suppliers, and logistics service providers.
Compliance and Problem Solving
- Resolve customs clearance delays, documentation issues, shipment handling problems, and other operational challenges.
- Ensure compliance across shipping, transportation, customs clearance, documentation, and logistics operations.
Cost and Performance Management
- Optimise freight costs, routing, and resources while identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
- Analyse operational and financial data and provide management with timely performance updates and recommendations.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in land-freight operations, logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or operations management.
- Proven team leadership experience and ability to manage teams, set KPIs, improve performance, and implement SOPs.
- Strong cost control, budgeting, supplier management, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to analyse operational and financial data, prepare reports, and provide recommendations to management.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience using logistics or ERP systems.
- UAE logistics experience and local customs and transportation knowledge are advantageous.
- A valid driving licence.
Pay
- Pay starts from AED 10,000 per month.
- The position is full-time.
Work Location
- The work location is in person in Dubai, UAE.
