- Assign accurate ICD 10 CM, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG codes for documented diagnoses and procedures
- Abstract necessary information from health records to identify secondary complications and co morbid conditions
- Evaluate medical records for documentation consistency and adequacy
- Provide training and guidance to coders and Medical Records Technicians
- Ensure coding complies with HAAD guidelines and regulations
Requirements
- Knowledge of ICD 9, ICD 10 CM, CPT, HCPCS, DRG coding systems
- Familiarity with HAAD guidelines and regulations
- Experience in medical coding and documentation review
- Ability to provide training and guidance to coders

Key Responsibilities
- Check and assign most accurate ICD 9, ICD 10 CM, CPT, HCPCS, DRG codes
- Ensure final diagnoses and operative procedures are valid and complete
- Abstract necessary information from health records
- Evaluate medical records for documentation consistency and adequacy
- Compute and assign correct DRG coding for inpatient cases
- Provide training and guidance to coders and Medical Records Technicians
- Analyze physicians' documentation for appropriate E&M levels
- Ensure coding complies with HAAD guidelines
- Provide feedback to physicians regarding coding errors
- Stay up to date with latest coding versions and HAAD directives
- Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned
Additional Duties
- Perform any other duties assigned by HOD within scope of job title
- Comply with OSH and infection control policies
- Work in accordance with documented OSH procedures
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
- Notify OSH hazards, incidents, near misses
- Assist in preparation of risk assessments and incident reports
- Comply with waste management procedures
- Attend OSH and infection control training programs
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment
