Responsibilities
- Organize and supervise activities of drilling, marine, and maintenance departments to effectively carry out management and command functions
- Manage and review execution of drilling program in coordination with Client Representative and rig department heads
- Plan, approve, and supervise rig activities such as equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance program, and repairs
- Plan rig move activities with Marine department and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Act as command team leader during emergency situations and ensure drills are held and recorded
- Serve as primary client contact onboard regarding all service provision related matters
- Maintain proper logs and records, submitting required reports promptly
- Mentor, develop, and train team to ensure safe and effective operations

- Extensive experience in offshore drilling operations and rig management
- Knowledge of marine operations and rig move procedures
- Ability to manage major emergencies and lead emergency response teams

Job Summary
- Superior authority onboard the rig for operational safety, efficiency, drilling integrity and client relations.
- Provide onboard leadership and direction for department leaders to meet client drilling program requirements while considering company procedures and allocated rig budget.
Rig Operations
- Organize and supervise the activities of drilling, marine and maintenance departments of the drilling unit.
- Communicates with the Rig Manager in reviewing and discussing the client's projected well program.
- Manage & review the execution of the drilling program in coordination with Client Representative and rig department heads.
- Make all decisions in conjunction with departments heads regarding utilization of equipment.
- Ensure the availability of the optimum quantity of rig supplies, parts, materials, fuel, lubricants, potable water.
- Plan, approve, and supervise rig activities such as equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance program, repairs, daily maintenance of drilling fluids, rigging up or down.
Marine & Rig Move
- Plan operations with the Marine department all related rig move activities, equipment, supplies, personnel mooring, station keeping and stability.
- Assesses the new drilling location, considering factors such as water depth, seabed conditions, weather, setting up location and proximity to infrastructure.
- Obtains necessary permits and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for the rig move.
- Coordinates with vessel operators, tugboat crews, and support teams for efficient execution of the rig move.
- Supervise and monitor rig positioning and anchor mooring or preloading and leg penetration during rig movement and placement.
Management of Major Emergencies
- Acts as the command team leader during emergency situations, through leading the Rig's emergency response teams.
- Ensure that all personnel are instructed in the procedures to be adopted in the case of an emergency.
- Ensure that Well Control and general safety drills are held and recorded in accordance with Company requirements.
Client Management
- Act as the primary client contact onboard the rig regarding all service provision related matters.
- Communicate regularly with the client representative onsite and ensure that each party's priorities and plans are clearly communicated.
- Represents the Company professionally, upholding the confidentiality of the Company and client business.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintains proper logs and records, promptly submitting required reports as per company protocols and regulatory standards.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports, including daily drilling reports, equipment status reports, and incident reports.
People Management & Development
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with the crew, clients, and third party personnel.
- Provide clear instructions to their team regarding their duties, responsibilities, and any necessary safety precautions.
- Mentor, develop and train their team to ensure safe and effective operations.
- Identifies opportunities for skill and career advancement, works to support the professional growth of their team.
- Ensure their team receives the necessary required training to perform their duties safely and effectively.
- Support, promote and actively participate in ADES's Competency Assurance Program for their team.
- Evaluates the performance of their team on constant and fair feedback basis.
- Oversees the catering staff, ensuring proper hygiene is practiced.
