Nursing Director/Operations Manager - Acute and Statewide Services - RN5

Within the framework of the National Mental Health Policy and the Standards for Mental Health Services and in a manner consistent with the stated Vision and Values of the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) the Acute and State-wide Services Nursing Director CAMHS is accountable to the Clinical Director and Director Mental Health Strategic Operations CAMHS for the development and delivery of an integrated system of child and adolescent mental health within the Acute and State-wide Services of CAMHS across of South Australia.

Supports the governance and practice standards of the acute bed based services and for the delivery of state-wide services including the development of systems to support, evaluate and consistently improve clinical practice and healthy work environments and the equitable and cost effective provision of health services within their span of appointment.

Provides professional nursing/midwifery advice, corporate management and nursing and leadership to: RN 3 and 4, working across the CAMHS Division. Additionally the role contributes to and implements the corporate nursing/midwifery professional practice framework established by the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery WCHN.

Contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of the strategic and operational priorities of the Service through using their clinical experience and knowledge and working closely with the wider CAMHS Executive team.

Works closely with the Community Based Services Operations Manager to achieve the delivery of integrated seamless equitable accessible and consistent services for consumers across the state.

As an integral part of the CAMHS Executive team, to contributes at a divisional level, to the provision of state-wide strategic and operational leadership, governance and direction for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, and will include the development and implementation of strategic service plans, policies and strategies relating to the state-wide delivery of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

Works collaboratively with the Clinical Director and Director Mental Health Strategic Operations, SA- CAMHS Executive for the provision of high quality child and adolescent mental health care services which meet both the National Mental Health Standards and all other professional standards.

Ensures the provision of high quality child and adolescent mental health care services which meets the National Mental Health Standards and all other professional standards, together with the Clinical Director and Director Mental Health Strategic Operations, SA CAMHS Executive and other discipline seniors within the Service.

Develops and leads changes in CAMHS service design to ensure contemporary and relevant service delivery, and undertakes other specific projects CAMHS wide high level port folios as required.

This role balances and integrates strategic and operational perspectives across CAMHS.

Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 5 years post registration experience.

Demonstrated expertise in the area of child and adolescent mental health service provision.

Proven experience in applying contemporary leadership and management processes and practices in a mental health care setting and in managing staff from various multidisciplinary and cultural backgrounds.

Demonstrated experience in the management of material, financial and human resources under a clinical services management model or similar environment.

Experience in facilitating consumer/carer partnerships and successfully working with stakeholders.

Experience in leading services or organisations through times of extensive change and/or in managing and leading complex projects.

Experience in policy development and leading quality improvement initiatives in health care settings.

Comprehensive understanding of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC) National Competencies for the Registered and Enrolled Nurse in Recommended Domains 2010.

Knowledge and understanding of the ANMC Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses/Midwives in Australia 2008.

A sound knowledge of contemporary child and adolescent mental health clinical service provision and service requirements and impacts.

A proficient knowledge of Quality Management principles and processes.

Knowledge of contemporary human resource management principles.

Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards.
