Position Purpose

  • The Patient Support Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care in the community setting to assist patients with chronic disease achieve optimum health and quality of life.
  • The role is responsible for provision and management of effective nursing care to individuals and families in the community or in Patient Support Programs.
  • Works in adherence to Axios International policies and procedures and established standards of nursing practice according to local and international rules.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Telephonic follow up consultation
  • Monitoring of vital signs during home care: blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, oximeter
  • Monitoring of blood glucose levels, providing teaching and support for patient and family
  • Administrating medications and instruction on injections, IVs, inhalation, oral, infusions, rectal
  • Pain management medication monitoring and support
  • Education and counselling consistent with treatment and care management needs
  • Wound assessment and dressing changes
  • Providing general nursing care
  • Monitoring pain control
  • Cardiac assessments
  • Supervision/health teaching and support for family and caregivers
  • Attending pharmacovigilance, pharma, and product training; reporting adverse events

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Reflect and interpret Axios Vision, Mission and Core Values
  • Act in accordance with relevant legislation and company policies
  • Develop and maintain respectful, cooperative working relationships
  • Understand role in maintaining a safe workplace
  • Assist Program Managers by liaising with hospitals, distributors, pharmacies, and patients
  • Carry out home visits for patient care
  • Prepare monthly monitoring reports and quarterly quality assurance reports
  • Maintain and update electronic program files
  • Conduct administrative duties for the office
  • Manage part time Nurses

Educational Background and Experience

  • BS Degree in Nursing required with at least 2 years working experience in a healthcare setting
  • Must be a licensed nurse with evidence from Ministry of Health/DHA/DOH and enrolled in syndicate of nurses in UAE
  • Excellent command of English with demonstrated clinical nursing knowledge and experience in direct patient care

Job Circumstances

  • Position based in regional office with frequent travel to clients and partners outside designated region
  • Flexibility in ability to travel and working hours is essential
