Position Overview
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with dedicated procedure and administrative time
- Call Schedule: Shared call rotation
- Daily Patient Census: 14 to 16 patients
- Equipment/Resources: State-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment resources
- Provider Support: Collaborative team of physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
Primary Responsibilities
- Diagnose complex neurological conditions through patient history, physical examinations, and specialized neurological testing.
- Counsel patients and families regarding neurological disorders, treatment plans, and prognosis.
- Order and interpret neurological diagnostic tests, including neuroimaging studies.
- Prescribe and administer appropriate treatments and medications.
- Monitor patients for behavioral, cognitive, and other treatment-related side effects.
- Coordinate and order supportive care services as needed.
- Participate in neuroscience research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and healthcare professionals throughout the community and hospital system.
- Stay current with advances in neurology, emerging treatments, and new medications.
- Evaluate and manage specialized neurological conditions, including sleep disorders, neuroimmunology, neuro-oncology, behavioral neurology, and neurogenetics.
- Perform and interpret lumbar punctures, electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and nerve conduction studies (NCS).
