Join the high-performing 9News Canberra Bureau as a Multimedia Journalist specialising in Federal Politics. Reporting directly to the Director, National News content you will drive high-impact coverage across television broadcast, digital, and social platforms. This dynamic role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with national decision makers while contributing compelling content to both state and national news broadcasts.

Day to day you will

Working across a 7 day roster, identify, research, and break political stories that set the daily news agenda.

Produce high-quality television news reports while simultaneously filing digital-first and social content

Deliver calm, authoritative, and accurate live crosses from the field and studio during breaking news events.

Build and maintain a trusted network of high-level contacts

Collaborate constructively with newsroom colleagues under tight deadlines to maintain top production standards.

Represent the 9News brand with professionalism both on-air, across digital platforms and around Parliament House.

What you'll bring

A degree in Journalism or equivalent practical industry experience.

Demonstrated experience reporting within a fast-paced television newsroom.

A strong interest in Federal Politics and a willingness to learn the craft of political reporting

Exceptional broadcast presentation skills with the ability to think critically during live breaking news.

Proficiency in digital publishing and social media storytelling alongside television production.

Sound knowledge of media law, legal compliance, and journalistic ethics, with video editing skills considered an advantage.
