Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience is required in onshore and offshore oil and gas or petrochemical inspection and verification.
  • Experience must include welding, process piping, mechanical equipment, painting, coating, wrapping, hydro testing, and advanced NDT methods.
  • Experience is required in assessing NDT procedures and reviewing or approving multidiscipline ITPs, procedures, site queries, NCRs, and concession requests.
  • Very good spoken and written English is required for technical reports, procedures, and QA/QC documentation.
  • Proven experience liaising with EPC contractors, computer literacy, and familiarity with international engineering codes are required.

Certifications and Codes

  • BGAS Level 2 or NACE Level 1 certification is required.
  • CSWIP 3.1, AWS CWI, or ERS welding inspection qualification is desirable.
  • The role requires familiarity with ASME, ANSI, API, AWS, BP, BS, ISO, ISO EN 1024, DNV, and related international codes.

Inspection Responsibilities

  • Understand vendor and manufacturer quality system requirements.
  • Review and verify vendor and manufacturer documents against purchase orders, material specifications, relevant codes, and project specifications.
  • Carry out material receiving inspections for permanent project materials handled by EPC contractors.
  • Witness, verify, and endorse procedures and welder qualifications.
  • Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans and material certificates.
  • Monitor, inspect, and approve welding, welding procedures, NDT work, and PWHT work.
  • Review radiographs and NDT reports and sign weld and NDT logs.
  • Inspect pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pressurized piping, and structural works during fabrication.
  • Witness hydrostatic and pneumatic testing.
  • Inspect surface preparation, painting, and insulation.
  • Apply material control, preservation, and storage procedures.
  • Raise non-conformance reports and verify corrective and preventive actions for project materials.

Reporting

  • Prepare concise weekly and monthly inspection reports.
