Role Overview

Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, and Mechanical engineering activities across infrastructure projects.

The role focuses on water and wastewater sector work and requires delivery within quality, programme, and budget requirements.

Leadership and Delivery

  • Lead and manage Electrical and Mechanical engineering teams across multiple projects.
  • Plan resources, provide technical guidance, review deliverables, and monitor engineering progress, man-hours, and risks.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces and participate in client meetings, workshops, design reviews, and project meetings.
  • Support proposals, project planning, quality processes, recruitment, staff development, and continuous improvement.

Electrical and I&C Scope

  • Cover MV and LV distribution, substations, transformers, generators, emergency power, UPS, DC batteries, VFDs, and motor control centres.
  • Address protection and coordination, short-circuit and load-flow studies, earthing, lightning protection, lighting, small power, and power quality.
  • Coordinate SCADA, control, instrumentation interfaces, and electrical equipment specifications.

Mechanical Scope

  • Lead activities involving HVAC, ventilation, pumps, pumping systems, mechanical piping, water and wastewater equipment, and fire protection.
  • Coordinate plumbing, drainage, mechanical equipment packages, equipment sizing, technical specifications, calculations, and equipment selection.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 15 years of relevant engineering experience, including significant team leadership or managerial experience.
  • Previous management of multidisciplinary engineering teams and strong experience in infrastructure, utilities, water and wastewater, and industrial projects.
  • Experience in engineering consultancy and multidisciplinary design environments is required.
  • Professional engineering registration or chartership is preferred.
  • PMP certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Core Skills

  • Strong technical leadership, team and resource management, multidisciplinary coordination, and technical review capabilities.
  • Ability to manage several projects and competing priorities, with commercial awareness and man-hour estimation experience.
  • Excellent communication, client-facing, problem-solving, decision-making, mentoring, and staff development capabilities.

Standards and Software

  • Understand IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS/EN, and local authority requirements.
  • Preferred software includes ETAP, AutoCAD, Revit or BIM platforms, DIALux, HAP, Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office.
