About the Role
We are seeking a Medical Science Liaison to represent AbbVie's medical/scientific voice of expertise for oncology products in the Gulf region. The role involves scientific exchange with External Experts, providing medical/scientific input into Medical Affairs strategies, and supporting clinical research activities.

Responsibilities
- Represent the affiliates medical/scientific voice of expertise for assigned product(s) and relevant therapeutic area(s)
- Provide medical/scientific expert advice/guidance to key customers, including scientific exchange and professional relationship development with External Experts (EEs)
- Provide medical/scientific input into Medical Affairs strategies for the affiliate medical department and commercial plans
- Develop and maintain in depth knowledge for assigned product(s)/relevant therapeutic area(s) through attendance at key internal meetings, congresses, and self study
- Deliver scientific presentations and medical education programs to healthcare professionals individually or in groups
- Design and implement clinical research projects within defined standards and budgets (e.g., Phase IV, post marketing clinical activities)
- Provide the required oversight to manage review, approval and conduct of IIS studies
- Review and preparation of promotional/non promotional material to ensure medical/scientific content is correct, balanced, fair and compliant
- Deliver training to sales forces and other departments; develop and update relevant training materials
Requirements
- Advanced degree (e.g. PharmD., PharmB., MD, PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline is preferred; undergraduate degree with demonstrated experience considered
- Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs
- Prior experience in Medical Affairs and Oncology therapy area are required
- Demonstrated expertise in scientific methods applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory controls
- Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills in English
- Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with thought leaders, physicians, and other healthcare decision makers
- Ability to travel regularly (approximately 50%)

Primary Function and Responsibilities
- Represent the affiliates medical/scientific voice of expertise for assigned product(s) and relevant therapeutic area(s).
- Provide medical / scientific expert advice / guidance to key customers for assigned product(s) and relevant therapeutic area(s), including scientific exchange and professional relationship development with External Experts (EEs).
- Provide medical / scientific input into Medical Affairs strategies for the affiliate medical department and commercial plans, as required.
- Develop and maintain in depth knowledge for assigned product(s) / relevant therapeutic area(s) through attendance / participation at key internal meetings/training sessions, relevant congresses, and seminars and by regular self study.
- Provide expert medical/scientific advice for assigned products and related therapeutic areas, including responding to requests for scientific/technical information.
- Establish and maintain professional and credible relationships with External Experts (EEs) and academic centers.
- Deliver scientific presentations and medical education programs to healthcare professionals individually or in groups.
- Design and implement clinical research projects within defined standards and budgets (e.g., Phase IV, post marketing clinical activities such as registry/database projects, epidemiological surveys, and PMOS studies).
- Provide the required oversight to manage review, approval and conduct of IIS studies.
- Review and preparation of promotional / non promotional material. Ensure the medical/scientific content is correct, balanced fair and fully compliant.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (e.g. PharmD., PharmB., MD, PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline is preferred but candidates with an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and demonstrated experience will be considered.
- Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs to advance the medical and scientific objectives of a pharmaceutical company.
- Prior experience in Medical Affairs, and Oncology therapy area are required.
- Demonstrated expertise in the scientific methods applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory controls applicable to this research.
- Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with thought leaders, physicians, and other healthcare decision makers.
- A good understanding of written and oral English is mandatory.
- Ability to travel regularly (approximately 50%).
