Specific Responsibilities
- Plan and direct research and development when appropriate
- Perform biological, hematological, chemical, or physical analysis and determinations
- Perform physical, bacteriological, chemical, or serological tests on samples including blood, sputum, urine, water and tissues
- Operate and maintain sophisticated instruments and equipment
- Prepare chemical reagents and biological media according to formulae
- Prepare slides and make microscopic observations
- Collect blood specimens and analyze them for sugar, sedimentation rate, type, bacteria cultures, and bacteria identification
- Perform blood counts including red cell, haemoglobin, differential, platelet, retics, and sickle cell
- Make complete urinalyses
- Carry out biochemical analyses and determinations such as liver function, thyroid function, blood sugars, renal function, and cardiac function
- Prepare tissue for microscopic examination by pathologists
- Participate in QC/QI for area of specialty and Lab indicators
Qualifications
- Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
- Experience in performing biological, hematological, chemical, and physical analyses
- Knowledge of ISO 15189:2022, EIAC, JCI, and regulatory standards
- Ability to operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory instruments
