Site Supervision and Inspection
- Supervise contractors’ daily mechanical operations and maintenance activities at assigned dam facilities.
- Inspect gates, valves, pumps, actuators, hoists, pipelines, hydraulic power units and associated equipment.
- Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and maintenance procedures.
- Monitor repairs, replacements, installations, alignment, testing and commissioning activities.
Testing and Equipment Reliability
- Witness functional, pressure, leakage, performance and operational tests and verify mechanical safety devices and protection systems.
- Monitor equipment availability, reliability and condition, including leakage, vibration, overheating and abnormal noise.
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis and recommend corrective, preventive and reliability-improvement measures.
- Coordinate equipment isolation, shutdown, testing, restart and return to service.
Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance activities and review daily and weekly maintenance plans.
- Monitor maintenance backlogs and prioritize critical and safety-related work.
- Verify availability of spare parts, tools, lifting equipment and specialist resources.
- Update maintenance history and equipment information in SAP or the approved maintenance-management system.
Technical Review
- Review mechanical specifications, scopes of work, bills of quantities, drawings, calculations, data sheets, method statements and technical proposals.
- Review hydraulic calculations for flow, pressure, head loss, pipe sizing and equipment capacity.
- Verify selection and sizing of pumps, valves, gates, actuators and hydraulic equipment.
- Review material selection, pressure ratings, corrosion protection, equipment access, as-built drawings, test certificates, warranties and O&M manuals.
Contractor and Stakeholder Coordination
- Monitor contractor manpower, equipment, productivity, safety performance, schedule compliance, delays and resource shortages.
- Coordinate mechanical work with civil, electrical, hydraulic, instrumentation, control, quality and HSE teams.
- Provide technical input for progress verification, payment assessments and variation reviews.
- Coordinate with government stakeholders, consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare facility technical reports and daily, weekly, monthly, annual and other technical reports required by the assignment.
- Report equipment condition, work progress, contractor performance, defects, risks and corrective actions.
- Maintain registers for inspections, technical submissions, maintenance activities and non-conformances.
- Comply with Saudi laws, applicable codes, client procedures, quality requirements and occupational health and safety obligations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in mechanical, hydraulic and pumping works.
- Previous experience with dam facilities is required.
- Practical site experience supervising mechanical installation, maintenance, testing and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of pumps, gates, valves, actuators, hoists, pipelines and hydraulic power units.
- Experience reviewing hydraulic calculations, mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance methods.
Work Location
- The role is based at assigned dam facilities and includes inspections, meetings and site visits anywhere in Saudi Arabia as required.
- Coordinate daily activities with contractors, operators, technicians and multidisciplinary site teams.
