Role Overview
The employer is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer experienced in building services and high-rise residential and commercial tower projects.
The successful candidate will work with a team to develop projects through clear strategy and proactive commitment.
Design and Project Responsibilities
- Perform design calculations for optimization and compliance with applicable standards and codes.
- Review HVAC, firefighting, drainage, water, and LPG mechanical systems designs.
- Ensure proposed designs follow the latest energy-efficient design criteria.
- Propose alternative design solutions that keep projects viable and within budget.
- Provide technical assistance to departments and liaise with architects and structural engineers.
- Attend site visits when required to support the project team.
Technical Skills
- Have good knowledge of buildability and construction techniques.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Have strong attention to detail, teamwork, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have a proven track record in building services design across different sectors.
- Be proficient in IES, HAP, Hevacomp, and AutoCAD.
- Have excellent knowledge of BS-EN, CIBSE, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other local and international design standards.
- Have excellent knowledge of Middle East statutory authority regulations and submission requirements, especially in the UAE and Dubai.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
- Chartered membership of an internationally recognized professional body such as CIBSE or ASHRAE.
- Minimum four years of experience in the Middle East.
