Mechanical Design Engineer

Role Overview

Design and Project Responsibilities

• Perform design calculations for optimization and compliance with applicable standards and codes.
• Review HVAC, firefighting, drainage, water, and LPG mechanical systems designs.
• Ensure proposed designs follow the latest energy-efficient design criteria.
• Propose alternative design solutions that keep projects viable and within budget.
• Provide technical assistance to departments and liaise with architects and structural engineers.
• Attend site visits when required to support the project team.

Technical Skills

• Have good knowledge of buildability and construction techniques.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Have strong attention to detail, teamwork, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Have a proven track record in building services design across different sectors.
• Be proficient in IES, HAP, Hevacomp, and AutoCAD.
• Have excellent knowledge of BS-EN, CIBSE, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other local and international design standards.
• Have excellent knowledge of Middle East statutory authority regulations and submission requirements, especially in the UAE and Dubai.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
• Chartered membership of an internationally recognized professional body such as CIBSE or ASHRAE.
• Minimum four years of experience in the Middle East.
