About the Role
FieldCore, part of GE Vernova, is hiring a Mechanic I to safely install, maintain, and repair heavy rotating machinery used in power generation applications. The role involves dismantling, assembling, moving, and aligning machinery using various tools and reading blueprints.

Responsibilities
- Dismantle, assemble, move and align machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, micrometers, rules, squares, plumb bobs, dial indicators and/or laser alignment equipment
- Read blueprints, schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures
- Responsible for shipping and receiving all major pieces for T&DC, plus all shipping, receiving, inventory, and control of tools, equipment and supplies
- Perform material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules, calipers, protractors, and torque wrenches
- Perform machining and welding operations for making various parts for lab and shop training equipment
- Determine equipment specifications and prepare parts lists for purchasing, consisting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic devices
- Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment and supplies and perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs as needed
- Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and other drawings in industrial establishments
Requirements
- Minimum of one year experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to read blueprints, schematic drawings and technical documentation
- Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
- Proficient in mechanical/technical skills and oral communication
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment

Job Summary
- The primary responsibility of the Steam/Gas Mechanic is to safely accomplish the installation, maintenance and repair of heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications.
- Turbine Mechanics work closely with Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations Department.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of one (1) years’ experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Preferred: Degree/Associate Degree in Technical Field or Gas Turbine Systems.
Desired Characteristics
- Ability to disassemble and reassemble complex rotating equipment – Bolting, Hydraulic Bolting, Flange Management, Small Bore Piping, Basic Rigging/Lifting, O/H Crane Operator.
- Proficient in mechanical/technical skills, oral communications skills, Critical Thinking.
- Manage time sensitive tasks and maintain a schedule within operationally challenging environments.
- Must work well both independently and in a team environment.
