- Use diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot engine problems
- Repair, service, maintain and overhaul diesel engines for power plants, generators, and stationary machinery
- Examine engine to ascertain nature, extent and location of defects
- Plan work using charts and technical manuals
- Dismantle engines or other parts requiring attention
- Repair and replace parts
- Test repaired engines and components, including cylinders, pistons, valves, and timing belts
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter
Requirements
- Experience in diesel and gasoline engine repair
- Ability to use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot engine problems
- Knowledge of engine overhaul procedures
- Ability to read technical manuals and charts
