We are seeking a Material Handler / Spot Weld Pull Tester for our Garden Grove, CA Plant.
Shift Availability: Monday - Friday and Saturday if required.
This position is open across all three shifts based on production needs, staffing requirements, and operational demands.
Available Shifts
1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Candidates must be flexible to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed to support production demands.
Position Summary
The Material Handler / Spot Weld Pull Tester is responsible for safely moving raw materials and finished products throughout the facility while supporting quality verification through spot weld pull testing procedures. This position requires forklift operation, material handling, inventory processing, and documentation of pull test results in accordance with company quality standards.
This role operates in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment that may include dust, debris, loud noise, and exposure to structural steel, reinforcing steel, ornamental iron, and other metal components used in large strut assemblies supplied to the construction industry.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate sit-down forklift to move material safely throughout the facility.
- Move and/or lift 20-foot welded back-to-back strut materials weighing 100+ lbs. with assistance/equipment as needed.
- Load and offload material from spot welding machines.
- Process work orders and place finished material into designated inventory locations.
- Cut strut material according to specifications and production requirements.
- Conduct spot weld pull tests and document results accurately in the quality logbook.
- Inspect materials for defects or inconsistencies and report issues to leadership.
- Maintain accurate inventory and material movement records.
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Support production and warehouse operations as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous material handling and forklift experience required.
- Sit-down forklift certification/experience required.
- Combi lift experience preferred.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and handle large materials.
- Basic math and documentation skills.
- Ability to read work orders and follow instructions.
- Manufacturing or welding environment experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency using hand and power tools and manufacturing equipment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with strong aptitude for operating machinery.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout shift,
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and assist with heavier materials using equipment/team lift procedures.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and noise.
