About Alvarez & Marsal
Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who positively impact our clients and shape our industry. The collaborative environment and engaging work, guided by A&M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity are why our people love working at A&M.
The Team
Our Transaction Advisory Group (TAG) continues to scale across Australia and we’re looking to add people to our Sydney team from experienced Manager, through to Senior Director level.
TAG is made up of former Big 4 professionals delivering top-tier financial due diligence for private equity, infrastructure, and corporate clients.
We specialise in buy-side and sell-side engagements, focusing on quality of earnings, cash flow analysis, working capital reviews, and key business drivers.
As we continue to scale and enjoy the work we do, we’re looking for people who are keen to be a part of this and help enhance our positive culture.
You’ll help with continuing to build something exciting, work closely with senior leaders, and be part of a culture that values merit, innovation, and collaboration.
A&M Australia offers a rare opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds - the agility and entrepreneurial spirit of a start-up, backed by the financial strength and frameworks of a global leader.
How You Will Contribute
You will play an active role in building A&M’s growing Transaction Advisory presence in Sydney, including client relationships, team mentoring and business development initiatives. Your other key responsibilities will see you –
Lead high-impact financial due diligence (FDD) engagements across buy-side and sell-side transactions, helping clients understand deal risks, value drivers and key commercial considerations.
Translate complex financial analysis into clear, practical insights that shape investment decisions, negotiations and transaction outcomes.
Work directly with target management teams, private equity investors, corporates and advisers to test assumptions, challenge performance trends and uncover the story behind the numbers.
Prepare sharp, deal-focused reports and presentations that clearly set out key findings, financial implications and recommended areas of focus.
Partner closely with Managing Directors and Senior Directors on complex engagements, contributing ideas, solving problems and helping manage transaction risk.
Qualifications
- To be successful in these roles, you will bring the following –
- Proven experience leading FDD or Transaction Services engagements, alongside a background within a Big 4 environment.
- A drive to succeed, take initiative and have positive interpersonal and communication skills that fit into our culture.
- Confidence engaging directly with private equity, corporate clients, target management teams and other deal advisers.
- A natural coaching style, with experience developing junior team members and creating an environment where people feel supported, challenged and trusted.
- A genuine interest in contributing to the continued success of the Transaction Advisory team and being a positive role model.
- A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, ACCA) is also preferred.
Your Journey at A&M
We recognise that our people are the driving force behind our success, which is why we prioritise an employee experience that fosters each person’s unique professional and personal development. This includes –
Culture: Enjoy a supportive and empathetic workplace with no unnecessary bureaucracy, “red tape” or micro-management.
Rewards: Competitive pay packages above market rates, with performance bonuses tied to your own personal achievements and contributions.
Top-Tier Clients: Gain exposure to a broad range of industries and enjoy impactful work.
Leadership: Approachable and open leadership styles that foster autonomy, professional growth and trust in your ability to deliver.
Flexibility: A flexible work environment where you’re treated like an adult, with no rigid mandates and a respect for work-life balance.
