Role objective

Manage the Technical Services Structures team and address in-service structural damage issues across the operated aircraft fleet.

Provide technical support, reliability, warranty, and continuing airworthiness functions in accordance with UAE GCAA CAR-M.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate structural damage, establish temporary fly-on limitations, and coordinate permanent repairs with Type Certificate holders and Maintenance Repair Organisations.
  • Align fleet technical actions, structural repair plans, certification, and maintenance activities with other engineering functions.
  • Review open structural certification programmes and monitor compliance demonstrations, resources, and timelines.
  • Maintain aircraft structural damage history and continuing airworthiness databases.
  • Evaluate Service Bulletins, Service Information Letters, and regulatory or manufacturer publications.
  • Represent the Structures team in industry and airworthiness authority meetings.
  • Lead structural design airworthiness and certification activities under GCAA CAR-21 Subpart J.
  • Support investigations into non-conformities, authority findings, safety reports, and incidents.
  • Develop procedures, resource plans, training programmes, and competency assessments for the Structures function.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and an engineering degree or ICAO Type 2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license.
  • Fluent English is required.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in a GCAA CAR-M organisation, CAR-21 Subpart J Design Organisation, or equivalent.
  • At least three years holding Structures Compliance Verification Engineer approval for aircraft structural repairs and embodiment.
  • Proficient knowledge of GCAA CAR-21 Subpart J and EASA Part 21 Subpart J.
  • Working knowledge of initial airworthiness and environmental protection.
  • Seven to nine years with qualifications is stated in the source.

Systems and competencies

  • Microsoft Suite and maintenance repair organisation systems such as AMOS are desirable.
  • The role requires customer focus, teamwork, communication, accountability, resilience, decision-making, and strategic thinking.
  • The role includes developing others, business acumen, and maintaining information security awareness.
