Role overview
Affirm is seeking an engineering manager to lead the Infra Foundations team.
The team provides foundational AWS infrastructure, including account provisioning, IAM, networking, IaC frameworks, and cloud-environment automation.
The role owns the team's roadmap, operational health, and engineering talent development.
What you'll do
- Define the team's vision and multi-quarter roadmap while protecting time for technical debt and reliability work.
- Lead, mentor, hire, and develop infrastructure engineers.
- Align priorities with infrastructure, platform, security, and engineering leadership stakeholders.
- Own AWS account provisioning, bootstrapping, VPC networking, interconnectivity, and human IAM access.
- Deliver automation frameworks using existing IaC rails, including GitHub and Spacelift.
- Manage AWS quotas, notifications, AMI patching, and Ansible-based configuration management.
- Set operational standards for IAM requests, quota alerts, incident response, and provisioning validation.
- Partner with Security on least-privilege IAM and promote self-service tooling, documentation, and best practices.
What we look for
- 7+ years of software or infrastructure engineering experience and 2+ years of engineering management experience.
