About the Role

- Manage the New Bets team within Fintech, building 0 to 1 financial products
- Help the team bring bookkeeping product into stable operations after launch
- Establish strong AI augmented development practices
- Create conditions for the team to operate with high independence across product, design, and engineering decisions
- Live and breathe performance facilitation, helping team members master their crafts
- Commit to the success of your people through regular 1 on 1s, feedback, and coaching
- Develop a world class team alongside a world class organization, participating in recruiting and hiring
- Remove roadblocks and build guardrails for rapid production of top quality work
- Collaborate with other stakeholders across the business
Requirements
- Track record of success as an established software engineer and time spent in a leadership position guiding a team in delivery of quality software
- Strong full stack technical background, including design and architectural experience
- Deep knowledge and experience in either Ruby On Rails environments or ReactJS
- Drive to succeed and deliver impactful projects on time
- Ability to be agile in an agile environment
- Effective written and oral communication
- Ability to lead and mentor

The team:
- You will manage the New Bets team within Fintech, focused on building 0 to 1 financial products.
- The team is currently building bookkeeping and accounting capabilities.
The Manager, Software Engineering will:

To be successful, you should have:
- A track record of success as an established software engineer and time spent in a leadership position.
- Strong full stack technical background, including design and architectural experience.
- Deep knowledge and experience in either Ruby On Rails environments or ReactJS.
- A drive to succeed and deliver impactful projects on time.
- The ability to be agile in an agile environment.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- To be a leader and mentor.
Highly desired, but not a dealbreaker:
- Previous experience with our development stack: ReactJS, Typescript, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and GraphQL.
- Previous experience with building zero to one projects from initial discovery through delivery.
- Familiarity or comfort in AI tools and AI augmented development rhythms.
Compensation:
- Minimum annual salary of CAD 169,200, midpoint of CAD 199,100, and maximum of CAD 228,900.
- Base salary is part of a total compensation package including equity rewards, annual stipends, retirement savings matching, and extended health package.
