Role Overview

1004 Gourmet General Trading L.L.C. is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager.

The role oversees freight forwarding, customs clearance, municipality-related logistics, and supply chain cost optimization across multiple UAE emirates.

The company imports, wholesales, and retails Asian specialty food and beauty products through retail and B2B operations.

Freight and Shipment Operations

  • Maintain strategic relationships with freight forwarders and negotiate favorable rates and service terms.
  • Manage inbound shipments from suppliers in Korea, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, and other markets.
  • Coordinate freight consolidations and shipment pickups to optimize costs and delivery timelines.
  • Track shipments from origin through customs clearance to warehouse or retail delivery.
  • Coordinate cargo readiness, shipping schedules, documentation, and clearance issue resolution.
  • Review bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other shipping documents.

Customs and Municipality Compliance

  • Manage customs clearance and ensure compliance with UAE import regulations and requirements.
  • Obtain and verify health, food safety, and regulatory certificates.
  • Maintain relationships with customs agents and brokers and resolve clearance issues.
  • Maintain municipality product registrations across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah, Fujairah, and other emirates.
  • Prepare for municipality audits and inspections and provide required documentation and facility access.
  • Track municipal health, food safety, labeling, product-specific requirements, reports, and renewal deadlines.

Cost and Warehouse Operations

  • Track freight, duties, taxes, broker fees, and clearance charges for each shipment.
  • Calculate and finalize landed cost and provide cost analysis to management.
  • Reconcile freight invoices and ensure accurate cost allocation to shipments and products.
  • Schedule labor and equipment for receiving and offloading shipments at warehouse facilities.
  • Track labor hours and equipment usage for accurate cost tracking and billing.

Vehicles and Reporting

  • Track delivery vehicle licenses and municipality registration details.
  • Coordinate vehicle registration renewals and municipality permit requirements with the PRO.
  • Prepare logistics and cost reports and monitor on-time delivery, freight costs, clearance efficiency, and landed costs.
  • Provide shipment summaries, cost analysis, and recommendations to management and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Have at least five years of hands-on experience in freight forwarding, customs clearance, or UAE logistics operations.
  • Have deep knowledge of UAE customs procedures, import and export regulations, and HS coding systems.
  • Have familiarity with municipality requirements and compliance processes across multiple emirates.
  • Have experience negotiating freight rates and managing vendor relationships.
  • Have a strong background in landed cost calculation and freight cost analysis.
  • Have expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking, analysis, and reporting.
  • Have excellent organizational, time management, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to handle multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specific experience with food, FMCG, or specialty food imports is preferred.
  • A background in health, food safety compliance, and municipality food safety audits is preferred.
  • Fluency in Arabic is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, customs brokerage, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

Compensation

  • Pay ranges from AED 7,000 to AED 8,000 per month.

Workplace

  • Work location is in person at DIP2, with logistics activities involving warehouses, ports, airports, retail locations, and multiple UAE emirates.
