Job Purpose
Responsible for ensuring cargo aircraft are loaded safely and cargo doors and in-plane loading systems are operated according to IATA, safety regulations, and company procedures.
Key Accountabilities
- Travel on each cargo flight as directed by the direct supervisor.
- Review load planning, weight and balance documents, and unit load device contours.
- Operate cargo doors and the self-operated loading system safely.
- Keep cargo within maximum hold, pallet, zone, weight, and cumulative load limits.
- Monitor stowage of dangerous goods, live animals, perishables, valuable cargo, and other special cargo.
- Ensure cargo is secure and balanced to prevent damage to the aircraft.
- Conduct inspections during flights carrying special cargo and while aircraft are in transit.
- Ensure proper restraint of unit load devices and bulky or oversized cargo.
- Maintain security of the area outside the cockpit, including crew luggage.
- Coordinate malfunctions or damage with maintenance and flight mechanics and keep the cabin logbook updated.
- Follow aircraft limitations and weight, balance, and ground services procedures.
- Identify process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency opportunities and submit accurate flight reports.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management or Aviation Management.
- Ability to follow IATA, safety, aircraft limitation, weight and balance, and ground services procedures.
- Ability to manage special cargo and prepare accurate operational reports.
