Role Purpose

  • As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in providing commercially focused legal support to the business, with a primary emphasis on drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts.
  • Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure contracts are structured efficiently, legally sound, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Your role will help mitigate legal risks, support commercial decision making, and contribute to the company's growth in the AI powered space technology sector.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate and finalize all forms of commercial agreement, including framework agreements, service and equipment procurement agreements, satellite capacity lease agreements, service provider agreements, consultancy contracts, agency type of arrangements, MOUs and NDAs.
  • Provide solutions driven, commercially focused and risk weighted advice in the best interests of the company.
  • Create bespoke contract language and tailor agreement provisions to satisfy internal and external client requirements.
  • Support internal clients in contract negotiations and modify contract terms, ensuring appropriate legal protection.
  • Advise internal clients on the appropriate interpretation of contractual rights and obligations under existing agreements or new provisions of law or regulation.
  • Draft and negotiate intercompany agreements to support an appropriate group structure.
  • Advise internal clients on compliance with applicable Space42 policies and procedures.
  • Provide legal assistance and advice on various legal issues like commercial contracts, dispute resolution, regulatory, employment, and governance.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with national and international laws, regulations, and industry standards applicable to the space tech sector.
  • Liaise with specialized external legal counsel where engaged.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in law from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 6 years PQE.
  • Expertise in contract law.
  • Intellectual property expertise is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry, such as aerospace, defense, or telecommunications.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to provide strategic legal solutions.
