Lead Systems Operations Engineer - Production Support

Role overview

Core responsibilities

• Lead broad-impact systems initiatives and provide high-level consultation to technology teams.
• Plan computer systems and network infrastructure for the Systems Operations function.
• Review complex technical challenges and escalated support issues and make technical change decisions.
• Consult on change design and collaborate with engineering teams, peers, and managers.
• Design, code, test, and deliver software to automate manual operations.
• Partner with application teams to establish monitoring and service-level objectives using site reliability principles.
• Design automated upgrade, change management, and release management solutions.
• Support deployments, incident management, capacity upgrades, reporting, integrations, and platform availability.
• Design self-healing and resiliency patterns, troubleshoot priority incidents, and facilitate blameless post-mortems.
• Run chaos experiments and measure reliability using SLI, SLO, and error-budget practices.

Required qualifications

• At least 5 years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture, or equivalent demonstrated experience is required.
• Hands-on experience with Linux, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, MongoDB, Ansible, Python, and shell scripting is required for the production support work.
• Experience with Autosys, Ab Initio, ServiceNow, JIRA, NDM, SFTP, and networking is required or expected in the operational environment.

Desired qualifications

• Advanced application monitoring and end-to-end observability experience is preferred.
• Experience with AppDynamics, Splunk, ELK, APM, Grafana, or Prometheus is preferred.
• Cloud deployment, CI/CD, Agile, and multiple infrastructure technology experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Java or Python is preferred.

Technical environment

• Monitoring and observability include logs, metrics, events, traces, alerts, and infrastructure and application components.
• CI/CD tools include Jenkins, Gradle, Groovy, and Maven.
• Configuration management includes Ansible; databases include Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and MongoDB.
• The role involves DevOps, Java application support, Autosys, Ab Initio, ServiceNow, JIRA, NDM, SFTP, and networking.
