Role overview

The employer provides end-to-end solutions for the aviation fuel industry, including consulting, project management, engineering, construction, commissioning, and training.

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical design for aviation fuel infrastructure from concept through detailed design and issue for construction.

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Lead design of jet fuel hydrant systems, valve chambers, storage systems, process equipment, pressure vessels, and piping.
  • Perform hydraulic analyses and pressure surge modelling for fuel distribution systems.
  • Produce and review 3D models and 2D drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Evaluate vendor submittals and fabrication drawings.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Participate in HAZOPs and design reviews.
  • Prepare technical requisitions and support FATs and inspections.
  • Mentor junior engineers across aviation fuel infrastructure projects.

Candidate qualifications

  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience within the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience with process and plant equipment, pressure vessels, piping, and structural or mechanical systems.
  • Experience designing jet fuel hydrant systems, valve chambers, above-ground storage tanks, and associated pipework.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or active progression towards chartership is desirable.
  • UAE or GCC project experience is an advantage.

Technical standards and tools

  • Strong knowledge of ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, PED 2014/68/EU, Energy Institute publications, JIG 1, and JIG 2.
  • Experience with hydraulic analyses, pressure surge assessments, and surge suppression measures.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD alongside Inventor or SolidWorks.

Compensation and employment

  • Salary is listed as $200,000-$250,000 USD plus flights, healthcare, and visa.
  • The role is full-time.
