The Lead Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical design for aviation fuel infrastructure from concept through detailed design and issue for construction.
Day-to-day responsibilities
- Lead design of jet fuel hydrant systems, valve chambers, storage systems, process equipment, pressure vessels, and piping.
- Perform hydraulic analyses and pressure surge modelling for fuel distribution systems.
- Produce and review 3D models and 2D drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor or SolidWorks.
- Evaluate vendor submittals and fabrication drawings.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Participate in HAZOPs and design reviews.
- Prepare technical requisitions and support FATs and inspections.
- Mentor junior engineers across aviation fuel infrastructure projects.
Candidate qualifications
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with process and plant equipment, pressure vessels, piping, and structural or mechanical systems.
- Experience designing jet fuel hydrant systems, valve chambers, above-ground storage tanks, and associated pipework.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or active progression towards chartership is desirable.
- UAE or GCC project experience is an advantage.
Technical standards and tools
- Strong knowledge of ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, PED 2014/68/EU, Energy Institute publications, JIG 1, and JIG 2.
- Experience with hydraulic analyses, pressure surge assessments, and surge suppression measures.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD alongside Inventor or SolidWorks.
Compensation and employment
- Salary is listed as $200,000-$250,000 USD plus flights, healthcare, and visa.
- The role is full-time.
