We are looking for an experienced professional to take ownership of mechanical and structural design, provide technical leadership, and drive projects to successful completion. Your missions
π― Lead and mentor engineering teams, ensuring high-quality technical solutions that meet customer requirements.
π― Oversee the mechanical design process, including bespoke mechanical handling systems, lifting equipment and accessories, from concept through to manufacture.
π― Manage the development, review, and checking of technical documentation, including verification of design reports, detailed design drawings, technical files, calculations, and compliance documentation.
π― Provide technical guidance and risk assessment, identifying and mitigating challenges before they impact project timelines.
π― Collaborate with project managers, other lead engineers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
π― Work with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and FEA tools.
π― Engage with the supply chain, liaising with vendors to specify and develop mechanical components.
π― Ensure compliance with industry regulations, such as Machinery Safety Regulations and LOLER.
Qualifications/Skills to be successful
- π‘ BEng (2:1 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering (Masterβs preferred).
- π‘ Proven experience in mechanical engineering within a highly regulated sector.
- π‘ Strong Knowledge of design for fabrication, welding and manufacturing tolerancing. Specification of heavy industry design experience such as offshore, oil and gas, construction equipment, or similar
- π‘ Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural engineering principles, including mechanical handling, design for manufacture and machinery design.
- π‘ Ability to lead teams and delegate tasks effectively, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- π‘ Chartered Engineered.
- π‘ Experience with MathCAD FEA software (ANSYS, STAAD).
- π‘ Experience with piping design software (Fluid Master / Fluid Flow, CAESAR.
- π‘ Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and requirements-led design is a plus.
- π‘ Experience with NEC 4 contracts and risk identification is desirable.
- π‘ Experience with BS EN 13001, BS EN 13155 or similar crane related standards is desirable.
- π‘ Experience with hydraulics and control systems is desirable.
