Role Summary

This is a

foundational architecture leadership role (based in Dubai)

within a fast-scaling digital bank, where you will shape the end-to-end technology blueprint across digital banking, payments, and emerging digital asset platforms.

You will work directly with the COO and senior leadership to define a cloud-native, microservices-driven architecture, while bridging global engineering teams and driving innovation at scale.

Key Scope

  • Own and drive the enterprise architecture roadmap across core banking, payments, digital assets, and customer platforms
  • Design and govern cloud-native architectures on Microsoft Azure (AKS, APIs, event-driven systems)
  • Establish architecture standards, governance frameworks, and review processes across distributed engineering teams
  • Lead technology due diligence for new product lines and digital asset initiatives
  • Partner closely with Product, Compliance, and Leadership to align with UAE regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate build vs buy decisions, vendor platforms, and system integrations
  • Act as a technical advisor to C-suite stakeholders and mentor engineering leaders
  • Drive alignment with offshore engineering teams to ensure scalability, quality, and consistency
  • The ideal candidate should be/have:
  • At least 15 years of experience across software engineering, infrastructure, and architecture
  • **Proven experience as Enterprise Architect / Solutions Architect / Engineering Leader within banking, fintech, or digital banking**
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure ecosystem (AKS, API Management, Event Hubs, DevOps)
  • Deep understanding of microservices, API-first design, and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with core banking platforms and financial systems architecture
  • **Exposure to digital assets / blockchain / custody / tokenisation is a strong advantage**
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and executives
  • Mandarin proficiency is beneficial for regional collaboration
  • Nice to have:
  • Experience with UAE regulatory environments (CBUAE, DIFC, ADGM)
  • Background in greenfield digital bank builds or transformation programs
  • Certifications such as TOGAF or Azure Architect
