Position Summary

Responsibilities
Oversee applied research project coordination in the renewable energy and clean transportation fields to ensure that the project deliverables are met within the time, quality and budgetary constraints.
Chair regular internal and external meetings with all project stakeholders, which include student researchers, principal investigators, senior industry technical staff and other researchers from other academic institutions.

Document all meetings with proper minutes to track decisions and archive the presentations and the meeting minutes.
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders according to project communication plan.
Oversee the work and reporting of technical staff including student researchers and principal investigators, ensuring the quality of the work is to the customer’s satisfaction.
Participates in networking/promotion opportunities such as conferences, Centennial Innovates events etc.
Create project charters including work breakdown structures, timelines and Gantt charts, budget plans, schedules, minutes, reports, lessons learned documentation and estimation of resources.
Identify and recommend the hardware and software requirements needed to support research projects and project deliverables.
Evaluate and track the in-kind support from industry.
Assist in hiring student researchers, ensuring proper project staffing with the right skill sets.
Creation of job posting according with the specific skills sets requirements of the projects.
Work closely with industry partners to gather all information needed to submit proposals to funding agencies.
Office administrative procedures, review, evaluate and implement new procedures.
Qualifications/Experience
Four (4) year degree in Engineering, ideally in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, software or renewable energy; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in direct project work for NSERC funded transportation and energy applied research projects with industry partners.
Project Management Certificate or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience managing sensitive, high-risk, and multi-functional projects involving key industry partners and academic institutions.
Demonstrates problem-solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
Comfortable managing ambiguity and navigating shifting priorities.
